Catching up in 2010

What a year 2010 is playing out to be!

The long winter and cold wet spring gave me more than ample braiding time but not enough saddle time for my liking.  Finally started having some nice days in May and June.  Been day working allot and lovin' the brandings this spring!

May- CJL headed to Jordon Valley Big Loop with a rawhide booth. Good times visiting with new and old friends.  Always enjoy making new friends and telling people about the origins of rawhide gear.

In June we took a trip to Texas and New Mexico. Saw some beautiful country on the South Western side of NM.  Texas was a little too hot for this ol' rawhider.

Started gearing up end of June for the Leather show in Elko mid July.  Got to teach a rawhide braiding class for 2 days at the show.  Nothing better than working with people and rawhide!   Spent some quality time with good friends in Elko as well. It is always a good time when Doug Groves is around!  Got blessed by Doug's son Grant who helped teach the braiding class as well.  If any of you are interested in a braiding class email me for details.

The leather show brought out vendors from several parts of the country, got to meet some great people who sell tools, leather and machines for the leather industry.  Only downside was having a limit on the amount of spendable cash, or so my wife told me!

Braiding is pretty slow through the summer, too hot to work on projects and too many colts to start. Not to mention day workin', afterall a braider has to use the equipment he creates so as to create the best equipment poosible.

Wishin' all of my friends new and old a pleasant summer in the saddle.

Fall in the braiding room

Ok, there was no fall in the braiding room; but the cool no, cold fall weather has driven me into the braiding room on a full time basis.

Getting ready for a small show and demonstration in December.

2010 will bring with it another round at Elko and the Cowboy Poetry Gathering.

If you are interested in learning the art of rawhide braiding or just hone your skills, look into the rawhide braiding class offered during the Poetry Gathering.

Cold weather only has one purpose, to give me more time to braid....

God Bless,

Charly
